My Philosophy
I am a “Philosophical Syncretist” – I try to live according to the principles of two philosophies; I live in that space where Daosim and Stoicism overlap. It’s easy because both share many of the same principles. I cherry-picked some of the bigger ones:
Live in the Moment – “True happiness is to enjoy the present without anxious dependence upon the future.” Seneca.
Recognized the Cycles – “Those who flow as life flows know they need no other force.” Lao Tzu.
Change – “Shit happens, things change. Know the difference between what you can and can’t change, and accept how little of it is in your control.” Me.
Minimalism – “He who knows he has enough is rich.” Lao Tzu.
Northstar – “Just that you do the right thing. The rest doesn’t matter.” Marcus Aurelius.
Selflessness – “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” Epictetus.
Fuck Fear – “We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.” Seneca.
Memento Mori – “You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think”. Marcus Aurelius.
Health – It’s your greatest asset.
